In the 90s Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky and Bo Jackson were the most popular athletes in the world.  Jordan dominated the NBA and was on his way to becoming the greatest basketball player of all-time. Wayne Gretzky was dubbed “The Great One” and it was generally agreed upon that he was the greatest hockey player to ever skate on the ice. Bo Jackson was an athletic phenom, who starred in both the NFL and the MLB. On their own they were superstars but together they were Pro Stars, who were "All about helping kids". The animated series premiered in 1991 and aired on Saturday mornings. Although it only ran for one season, it remains a gem of 90s pop culture.

If we could recast the Pro Stars today who would make up the roster? Would we have to expand it to more than three members? What about female athletes?  Hockey, Basketball, Baseball and Football are popular sports in the states but soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Does soccer star Ronaldo belong on a modern day Pro Stars roster? Ronda Rousey may have been the most popular athlete in the world but does she belong on a new Pro Stars show? What would a new Pro Stars lineup look like? "It's Game Time!"

Steph Curry

Many have called the 2-time reigning NBA MVP the greatest shooter ever to step on a basketball court.  Steph Curry standing at 6’3” has redefined what elite looks like in the NBA. His baby face looks; carefree demeanor and wicked handle have made him one of the most popular players of the new generation of up and coming ball players. Steph is an easy pick for the new Pro Stars.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is still the most dominant tennis player in the world.  The tennis world has renamed the “Grand Slam”, the ‘Serena Slam”.  She’s also one of the most fashion forward athletes in the game bringing flair and style to every match. Her skill, strength and mental toughness are comparable with any elite athlete in any sport.  She epitomizes female empowerment and would be a perfect Pro Star.

Cam Newton

The Carolina Panthers Superman is already connecting with kids on his Nickelodeon show “All In”. He also gave away footballs to kids in the stands after every touchdown during his MVP season. He came up short in Super Bowl 50 but no one can deny his leadership and bright smile. Cam is one of the most dynamic players on the field and one of the most charismatic off. He might be the most suited leader of a new Pro Stars.

Bryce Harper

Kids like to have fun. Baseball hasn’t been as fun as it used to be but Bryce Harper is changing that. He’s the new face of baseball, and he has style, swagger and incredible skill. He’s a four-time MLB All-Star, the 2015 NL MVP, and the 2012 NL Rookie of the year. Bryce is also incredibly competitive and has an edge that makes him one of the most entertaining players to watch in the MLB. He’s definitely Pro Star material.

Alex Morgan

A soccer star has to have a place on the new Pro Stars roster. Superstars like Neymar, Ronaldo, and Messi would all be great choices. However, U.S. soccer phenom Alex Morgan is the best choice. She was the youngest player on the U.S. Women’s Team that won the World Cup. Morgan is the first American woman to score 20 goals and assist on 20 goals in the same calendar year. She was also named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete Of The Year. Morgan has been able to master a balance between gritty and graceful both on the pitch and off.
